Find KiteMood on the Marsa Alam lagoon

KiteMood is on a protected lagoon in the south of Marsa Alam, on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. It is only one hour from Marsa Alam airport and on the doorstep of many new low-rise 5-star resorts, yet the spot remains picturesque and unspoilt.

At the centre of the lagoon is the Blue Lagoon Resort. The Dream Lagoon and the Floriana Emerald Lagoon were added later, so there are now three resorts on the lagoon.

There are other spots in Marsa Alam, but we think this lagoon stands out for learning. It offers ideal wind conditions, and the coral reef shelters the lagoon.

Kitesurfing in Marsa Alam: your questions answered

Where is KiteMood and how do I get there?

KiteMood is on a protected lagoon in the south of Marsa Alam, on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. The address is WX78+MMJ, Marsa Alam Road (paste the code into Google Maps). It is only one hour from Marsa Alam airport, and your airport transfer is usually arranged with your accommodation. You can also find the map on our contact page.

Is KiteMood an IKO-approved kitesurfing school?

Yes. KiteMood is an IKO-approved school; read more about KiteMood. We follow IKO guidelines in all our lessons, and all our instructors are trained and certified by IKO. We teach the first three groups of the IKO Kiteboarding Training Path: Discovery, Intermediate and Independent.

Is the Marsa Alam lagoon good for beginners?

Yes. The lagoon is huge, with lots of space, flat water and a big standing area. The coral reef shelters it, and the tide changes it very little. The wind is quite stable, and the lagoon is windy almost all year round. We recommend shoes for beginners, because dead coral on a strip of rocky sand can be dangerous if you have to cross it.

How do I book a lesson?

To book, message us on WhatsApp or by email, or use the contact page, and tell us which lesson you want and which day suits you. We will confirm the time.

How much do kitesurfing lessons cost?

The first lesson (Level 1 – Discovery) is €85 for 75 minutes. The 6-hour beginner course costs €480 private or €360 semi-private, and the 8-hour beginner course costs €595 private or €475 semi-private. Level 2 lessons are priced per lesson, from €70 to €105. Advanced lessons cost €80 per hour, and €70 per hour after the 5th hour. A private 4-hour refresher course starts from €360, and a 2-hour one-to-one advanced tricks session costs €170 per person. Equipment is included during your lessons. If these do not fit your needs, contact us and ask for a personalised offer.

What is included, and how do you keep lessons safe?

Kites, boards, harnesses, helmets, life vests, wetsuits and other gear are provided during your lessons, and the transfer between the school and the beach is included. Every lesson is radio-assisted, so you are in touch with your instructor by radio at all times. Lessons are taught by IKO Level 2 instructors, with a low student-to-instructor ratio of 2:1 at most.
